Racing in Tipperary was originally held at the Barronstown course in 1848, before it moved to its current location at Limerick Junction in 1911. Known by that name for decades it was changed to Tipperary racecourse in 1986.
Tipperary has long been the stomping ground for juveniles who are gradually gaining experience and they have an illustrious roll of honour to some of their maiden winners.
In 2002 the first two home in the Epsom Derby, High Chaparral and Hawk Wing won 2-Y-O maidens at the track, whilst other stars like Dylan Thomas and Bushranger have been seen racing here in their youth.
It is a left-handed, flat course which is one mile, two furlongs long with a five furlong chute for the sprint races.
Notable races during the season include the Grade Two Tipperary Hurdle, Grade Three Grimes Hurdle and the Grade Three Concorde Stakes.
